How can Careers Hubs support Careers Leaders, engage parents, and improve careers provision?
Careers Hubs support schools and colleges to improve their careers programmes. Hub staff work with Careers Leaders to develop and deliver careers activities and events which will have an impact of young people's future study and work plans. Hubs can help schools and colleges to gather feedback on their careers activities.
Analysing survey data
Leicestershire Careers Hub commissioned us to analyse responses to staff and parent surveys they had undertaken. We plotted the data and linked it to other data such as pupil numbers and Ofsted ratings. We developed dashboards so that Hub staff could explore the responses of specific schools, staff, and groups of parents.
We analysed over 5,000 survey responses from 40 schools and colleges in Leicestershire.
We made a series of recommendations to the Leicestershire Careers Hub relating to which study routes staff and parents wanted more information on, which Year groups to prioritise, and what extra support to offer to schools with higher percentages of pupils with additional challenges. We advised the Careers Hub team on how to tweak the survey questionnaires to ensure they continue to have access to high quality staff and parent feedback. We continue to work with Careers Hub team, helping them to build a rich, long-term picture of their impact on each school and college they support.
